1. Test out the waters.
One of the greatest ways to find out whether or not a career is the right fit for you is doing an internship. Working as an intern for a company gives you a unique peek into what it’s actually like to work there. Maybe you’ve always wanted to work in a small organization, but during your internship, you find out that you’re actually longing to work on a bigger scale. This is very useful information that you can use to narrow down the search for your very first job after graduation.
2. Seek guidance.
Nowadays, there are so many options and possibilities when it comes to choosing a career. “The sky is the limit!” is what we often hear. Of course,it’s great to have all these possibilities, but it can also be a bit daunting and make the decision-making process a lot harder. If you’re doubting what career is the right one for you, consider talking to someone about it. Discussing this with a good friend or family member can be of tremendous help. But even more helpful is a session with a professional coach. Why not consider a coaching session with one of our experts?
3. Take a personality test.
We’re all different. We all have different stories, different passions and goals, and different personalities. Having a steady knowledge about who you are as a person is very important when you’re trying to find the right career. There are numerous professional personality tests that will give you elaborate insights in your own unique personality. The results of the test will of course not give you all the answers, but it will help you figure out what job fits your own unique talents and skills. Become an expert on yourself!
4. Conquer your fears.
Pursuing the career of your dreams can be quite overwhelming. You might be troubled by limiting thoughts and beliefs about yourself such as “I’d really love to work at this big company, but I could never do that.” Usually much more is possible than you fear! But you’ll never know until you try. It’s important to become aware of your own fears, insecurities and limiting beliefs. Everyone has them. Just don’t let them hold you back in pursuing your dream career!
